LOAN OFFICER

Description of Employer

Since 1975, The Community Development Finance Corporation (CDFC), a quasi-public economic development organization, has provided loans for working capital, contract receivable, equipment, expansion and contractor bond support to both for-profit and non-profit Community Development Corporations. CDFC's mission is to assist in the creation of jobs, economic development and affordable housing within distressed communities throughout the Commonwealth. CDFC provides funding designed to address the needs of business and non-profit corporations of varying sizes

Job Summary

CDFC is currently looking for a loan officer to cover Boston and points South of Boston.

A CDFC loan officer is responsible for soliciting new business throughout her/his territory within the Commonwealth. She/he will be familiar with the various CDFC programs, locate and meet with contacts, determine feasibility and credit worthiness and prepare and present loan requests to the CDFC. She/he will oversee all aspects of closing, monitoring and reporting the loan once completed. She/he will also assist in community and other business development activities as assigned.

Primary Responsibility

The loan officer will play a leading role in expanding CDFC's efforts to improve economic conditions in distressed areas of the Commonwealth by providing financial assistance to companies offering good paying employment opportunities to local residents.

Qualifications
Candidates should have:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (course work in accounting and finance) and demonstrated skill in business and personal financial analysis.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in commercial lending with emphasis on small business lending; experience with bonding and letters of credit is a plus.
  • Strong credit skills are a must.
  • Proven business development experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Competency in general computer use and experienced with

Microsoft Office programs:

  • Ability to travel to communities throughout the state.

Preferred candidates will also have:

  • Formal bank credit training.
  • Experience in economic development within disadvantaged areas.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) skills a plus.
